COVID-19

March 15, 2020

Over the past few days, we have been struggling with what the next step should be with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak. With all the madness and mayhem, that tax season brings, one of our favorite parts of our business, is meeting with each of you, to catch up on the year passed and discuss how we can reduce your income tax liability, legally. That being said, data has shown that the most effective way to contribute to the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak is social distancing and self-quarantine. As a community we need to ‘flatten the curve’ as fast as possible.

While we have taken measures to incorporate distance into our tax season review experience by reducing the number of people we meet with each day, there is no possible way to 100% guarantee safety from the COVID-19 virus. One sneeze, one cough, one high-five and an individual's life could be affected forever. This, we believe, poses an unnecessary risk to our staff, their families and each of you, our clients, and friends.

We pride ourselves on putting our community first, which includes our clients, and staff, and that is why we are temporarily closing our office for face-to-face meetings until March 27th, effective immediately. We can confirm that we have had zero cases of COVID-19 reported and in closing the office to in-person meetings, we hope to keep this statistic at zero.

The following outlines the process we have adopted for the next ten days to ensure that we can continue to provide you with the level of service you have become accustomed to:

DROP OFF OF TAX MATERIALS:

The following steps outline the options for supplying us with your materials in order of priority:

Upload PDF scans of each document to our Canopy portal. If you do not yet have an access code, please email us to obtain your unique secure link.

Mail us the information to LogieCPA, 724 Main St, Unit F, Hyannis MA 02601

Drop off this Monday between 9 and 10 am. Our office will be open for drop off those hours. Thereafter, you can drop off when we reopen our office, currently anticipated to be Monday, March 30th.

PICK UP/REVIEW/SIGNATURE/PAYMENT

Upon receipt of your information, we will schedule a conference call to discuss. We strongly recommend, if at all possible, you be at a computer when we call. If you are at computer, we will be able to share our screen with you and review the return line by line. Regardless, we will forward you an electronic copy of your return at the same time. Signatures will be executed via DocuSign and payment by secure link. For those of you who will still require a paper copy, we will make those available for pickup at your convenience when we reopen this office.

If you already have a pickup scheduled, you can expect a call from our office to arrange a virtual review in the next few days that will replace your current in-person meeting.

EXTENSIONS

We believe that the tax season will be extended. We will address that possibility with each client individually when the time arises. Please understand that we are committed to filing all returns on time. This might mean very long hours for us in April but if we are all safe it will be our pleasure.

These are unprecedented times and require unprecedented steps. Logie CPA is a strong believer of social responsibility. Hopefully, by taking this small step, we will be able to help slow down the curve and allow for our health care system to catchup.

Be Safe!
